What’s your improv “origin story?” (How did you first discover improv?)
20 years ago, I was an electronics student Brest (France). Some friends were organizing an impro show and I went to say hello. 10 minutes later, i was on stage having fun with my partners. It was a blast for me. 4 months later, I was organising the shows, and now, I’m the artistic co-director of Impro Infini – a professional impro company – and SUBITO – the main international impro festival in France http://www.festival-subito.com
Where have you studied improv?
I started learning by myself and a few years later I started taking workshops to improve my skills. I never stop. There is always something to learn. I was lucky to meet a lot of amazing teachers who became friends – Randy Dixon, Joe Bill, Susan Messing, Patti Stiles…I also met some international clowning masters – John Turner and Mike Kennard (Toronto), Ludor Citrik (France).
Tell us about the class that you’re running.
My workshop “improvise with lights” is about playing with lights and video on stage.
I was a light designer for more than 10 years so i like when improvisers use the lights on stage. There are so many possibilities and so much fun potential. It’s a very powerful tool and it allows you to play scenes you cannot play in full light. I created the show Impro LightboX to share that with experienced players worldwide. You can find some videos and pictures here : http://www.facebook.com/improlightbox

I never stop. There is always something to learn.

What do you do outside of improv?
That’s my job, so i spend a lot of time doing and thinking about impro. Otherwise, i like travelling, scubadiving and whale watching.
Most unexpected laugh you’ve gotten?
The first ones, 20 years ago. I can remember being on stage, looking at the audience and thinking “I don’t know why these guys are laughing … but i like it!”

I don’t know why these guys are laughing … but i like it!
